Women in Saudi Arabia have now been given the right to travel abroad without a male guardian’s permission. A royal decree issued on Friday through the Kingdom’s official weekly Um al-Qura gazette stated that passports should be given to any citizen that applies for it, and that anyone over the age of 21 does not need permission to travel. The decree also covered aspects of registering events such as childbirth, marriage and divorce. In other news, Saudi Arabia may cut crude oil prices to Asia in September for a second month straight after Middle East benchmark prices weakened. The official selling price for Arab Light crude could drop by at least 50 cents a barrel.
