Due to the continued COVID19 pandemic and resulting travel restrictions, Iqama holders and those with Business Visit Visas face challenges returning to Saudi Arabia.
The Kingdom imposed a direct travel ban on 20 countries at the turn of the year, creating confusion, delay and added cost when entering Saudi. The introduction of these new restrictions requires many of those traveling into Saudi Arabia to perform a ‘14-day’ pit stop in a 2nd country.
The most convenient way to enter Saudi is to carry out your 2nd country quarantine in Bahrain and travel into KSA via the King Fahd Causeway. Travelers should accommodate for 16 days in Bahrain. Whilst the current quarantine period is described as 14 days, travelers will need to test on their 15th day in Bahrain to get a negative travel to KSA on their 16th day in Bahrain.
On entry into KSA, travelers will be required to download Tawakkalna, Saudi Arabia’s track and trace app, which will turn blue to indicate arrival from abroad. In the app you must register the location where you will carry out 48 hours isolation before being able to book a PCR test on your 3rd day in the Kingdom. Following the result of a negative PCR test, your Tawakkalna app will update to a green status showing ‘no record of infection’ and you will be free to roam.
To support our returning clients AEI has recently rolled out a ‘Door-to-Door’ Travel Service for those wanting to return to the Kingdom Hassel Free. Our service consists of:
- Bahrain Hotel pick up;
- Immigration support across the Causeway;
- Drop off at location of isolation in Riyadh.
On average, transit from Bahrain to Riyadh takes less than 6 hours and avoids unnecessary lengthy and chaotic queues seen recently at King Khalid International Airport.
For the foreseeable future, AEI will be offering transport services from Bahrain to Riyadh from SAR 1500 (plus VAT). This will include a ‘hand holding’ service getting you from A to B, with assistance at the Bahraini and Saudi borders. All AEI drivers are fluent in Arabic and English and can aid in dealing with the Arabic documents you will be asked to fill out. Our vehicles are fully airconditioned, come with free Wi-Fi, PPE and stocked with water.
